Job Summary:
Directs and coordinates maintenance activities for installation and repair of all machine shop equipment, assembly equipment, building HVAC, CDA infrastructure, and utilities for heavy duty truck suspension manufacturing facility.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Schedule maintenance technician hours of work to ensure proper coverage for all shifts, including overtime, shutdowns and vacations.
Schedule and prioritize work orders, preventative maintenance and project workload of the technicians based on manufacturing needs.
Provide technical support to technicians on breakdowns and projects being implemented.
Assist in the training and development of the technicians to ensure all work rules are understood and followed.
Manage the technician's participation in the maintenance apprenticeship program and any additional training required.
Participate in accident investigations for equipment related accidents and injuries.
Implement, sustain and manage the Upkeep total predictive maintenance system. Continually search for improvements to the TPM system and for additional predictive techniques.
Lead efforts to improve the maintenance department to meet or exceed the established key metrics in the areas of safety, quality, productivity, delivery and cost savings.
Implement and continually improve the 5S/housekeeping program in the maintenance department. This includes organizing spare parts, drawings/manuals, equipment and tools, as well as general floor layout. Conduct regular audits to ensure the gains are sustained.
Develop, implement and maintain a system for critical and consumable spare parts to reduce downtime on equipment.
Supervise maintenance and upkeep of the facilities including all structures and surrounding property.
Supervise all outside contractors including: plumbing, HVAC and any other outside contractors required.
Manage the installation and development of maintenance requirements for all new equipment.
Develop, implement and maintain a system to track and trend unscheduled maintenance downtime due to equipment failures. Implement plans to reduce the amount of unscheduled maintenance downtime.
Manage the maintenance department spending budget to be at or below planned levels.
Qualifications / Training / Skill Requirements:
Minimum of 3 - 5 years of supervisory experience.
Good problem-solving skills.
Good communication and leadership skills
Proficient in mechanical and electrical systems (i.e. hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, PLC's, etc.)
Computer skills (MS Office, AutoCAD, maintenance software)
Behavioral Traits:
Ability to work independently
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
Education Requirements:
B.S. degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or five (5) years maintenance experience and/or specialized training.
Physical Demands:
Standing, lifting, repetitive tasks
Exposure to extreme heat and extreme cold while in the plant
