Location: Mcewen, Tennessee
Position Purpose:
Provide wiring, plumbing, and other miscellaneous support of industrial automation control systems including electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic through the full ordering, assembly, and installation processes.
Essential Functions:
1. Read electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics for the purpose of ordering, and assembling control systems as designed by engineering.
2. During field-wire and plumbing phase of each assembly, ensure cables and hoses are well managed and organized and sensors are positioned and functional upon power up.
3. Work with engineering and the machine shop to effectively communicate the needs of the controls assembly team and provide updates as required.
4. Build electrical control panels to meet common industry standards and best practices in a timely manner to meet project deadlines.
5. Select and properly evaluate electronic and pneumatic components, sensors, and suppliers on an as needed basis to support engineering.
6. Work and communicate with mechanical designers to satisfy all requirements of each controls system over the course of each project.
7. Balance multiple ongoing projects and designs, with attention to detail, timelines, and budget.
8. Update electrical schematics with redlines from the panel build and assembly process.
9. Assist engineering with the ordering of controls components from engineering provided BOM.
10. Work with vendors to acquire necessary quotes for all required controls components.
11. Tend to the organization and inventory of the panel shop and controls related shop areas dealing in electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic component storage.
12. Support projects during commissioning and final run-off.
Education and Training
• High School Diploma or G.E.D. from an accredited school.
Minimum Qualifications
• 8+ years of experience in manufacturing facility.
• Prior hands-on experience within the field of industrial automation or electrician trade.
• Control Panel Building including layout design, wiring, labeling, and cable management.
• Familiarity with pneumatic and hydraulic controls, including plumbing, valve types, and schematics.
• UL 508a Panel Building Certification preferred.
• Electrician License preferred.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Windows, email, typing, and the ability to learn new software on an as needed basis in a timely manner.
• Demonstrated experience using standardized problem-solving techniques.
• Minimum travel requirement of 20%.
Physical Demands
• Constant standing, walking, reaching and balancing.
• Frequent crawling, climbing, bending, squatting, and lifting during assembly.
• Lift up to 50 lbs.
• Carry up to 50 lbs. approximately 5 feet.
• Push/Pull 20-40 lbs. of force 40 feet.
• Handling/manipulation of small to large size components.
• Working with as high as 480VAC electrical and other high powered industrial equipment.
