The Cloud Engineer will be pivotal in advancing the Cyber Security Service Provider (CSSP) capabilities for NIWC Atlantic, focusing on integrating full-scale CSSP services within commercial and government cloud environments. This role involves deploying and refining cloud architecture to support multi-impact level operations and ensuring compliance with Department of Defense cybersecurity standards. The engineer will leverage advanced technologies in big data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to enhance cybersecurity measures. This position requires collaboration with multiple cloud service providers and continuous innovation to adapt to evolving cyber threats, ensuring robust defense mechanisms are in place to support diverse Department of Defense and commercial stakeholders.
Responsibilities
· Assist in the design and implementation of cloud solutions to meet program and customer needs.
· Participate in the deployment, installation, and provisioning of cloud infrastructure and services.
· Provide ongoing support for cloud storage and backup infrastructure.
· Contribute to the development, implementation, and oversight of policies and procedures to ensure consistent cloud environment provisioning, uptime, regulatory compliance, and data protection.
· Evaluate and analyze systems, performance, issues, and metrics to provide recommendations for service improvements.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and address cloud-related requirements and challenges.
· Stay up-to-date with emerging cloud technologies, trends, and best practices.
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
· Ability to obtain a security clearance at the Top Secret/SCI level.
· 4+ years of experience in cloud computing or related field
· Active DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 certification (at least one of the following certifications in good standing: CCNA, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP)
· Hands-on experience with cloud service providers like Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud, Google Cloud Platform, and IBM Cloud.
· Knowledge of cloud computing concepts, including virtualization, scalability, and high availability
· Working knowledge of cloud container security, implementing Kubernetes in enterprise environments
· Understanding of cloud security best practices, risk management, and regulatory compliance standards
· Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools.
· Knowledge of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, firewalls, and load balancing.
· Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
