The CNC Programmer/Operator is responsible for reading and interpreting design blueprints, programming the CNC machines, and setup of the machine to desired specifications. This role requires expertise in machine operation, programming, and quality control to produce high-quality parts efficiently.
Job Responsibilities
Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret technical blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine machining requirements and parameters
Machine Programming: Program CNC machines using software tools such as SolidWorks and FeatureCAM to create precise machining instructions
Machine Setup: Set up CNC machines by installing tools, attachments, and loading raw materials to prepare for production
Machine Operation: Operate CNC Milling machine, a Haas VF-8/40, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to specifications
Adjustments and Calibration: Adjust machine settings and calibrate equipment to meet the desired product specifications
Quality Assurance: Perform quality checks and first article inspections to verify that machined parts meet design and quality standards
Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and clean CNC machines regularly, keeping detailed records of maintenance activities and part production
Scrap Management: Manage and remove scrap material from the machine to maintain a clean and efficient workspace
Qualifications
Experience: 1+ years of related experience and/or training in CNC machining or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Education: High school diploma or GED. Additional vocational training or certifications in CNC machining is a plus
Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming CNC machines and using CAD/CAM software. Experience with HAAS VF-8/40 machine is advantageous
Independence: Ability to work unsupervised and manage tasks effectively while maintaining high standards of work
Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to machine performance, programming, and part production
Mechanical Aptitude: Excellent mechanical aptitude to understand and work with complex machinery, tools, and equipment
Organizational Skills: Outstanding organizational and record-keeping skills to manage equipment maintenance records, production data, and inventory efficiently
Teamwork and Communication: Ability to work effectively in a team environment, with strong communication skills to collaborate with colleagues, share information, and provide clear instructions
Physical Examination: Ability to pass a physical examination for vision, hearing, and mobility
Reliability: Demonstrated reliable work history
Attention to Detail: Must be detail-oriented with a strong focus on precision and quality in all tasks
