We are currently seeking a Director of Electrical Engineering, focusing on the management of protection and controls engineering for our growing Energy Power Services Team. The ideal candidate possesses 15+ years of related experience. The successful candidate will lead a dynamic team of engineering professionals to complete detailed design of layouts of control equipment enclosures, detailed elementary, schematic and wiring diagram drawings and plans required for construction of specific transmission and substation projects.
The work performed by this team requires an understanding of power systems, transformers, protective relaying and electrical engineering principles. The person will be involved in the development and review of designs for high voltage substations at voltages of 23kV, 115kV, 230kV and 500kV. Additionally, the person in this position is expected to develop expertise in protective relay settings calculations and analysis based on current and evolving standards (IEEE, NERC, etc.). The person in this position must be able to manage multiple projects in various stages of design to meet project schedule deadlines; provide design support to client-based field personnel during project implementation; develop and maintain sufficient level of expertise in use of CAD software for efficient production of engineering work; and collaborate in a team environment to spread knowledge and to produce the best quality product possible.
Other duties include:
Perform site visits for data gathering, writing material procurement and construction specifications,
Create equipment data sheets.
Evaluate contractor bids.
Review shop drawings and/or research equipment,
Generate engineering fee estimates, providing field support during construction, and prepare reports.
Create quality control checklists for substation P&C design project scopes, estimates, budgets, one lines, three lines, AC/DC schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, settings, relays, and SCADA.
Utilizes a variety of tools and techniques to complete an engineering design, including current or client defined design specifications, pertinent code manuals, computer aided design/drafting software, and other reference sources.
Produces engineering release packages consisting of pertinent drawings and bills of material.
Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems of increasing scope and complexity in both inside as well as outside the scope of typical responsibility.
Required Skills, Education and Experience:
BSEE from an ABET accredited University.
15+ years of electrical protection and controls experience
Preferred Skills, Education and Experience:
PE license
Advanced understanding of protection and control fundamentals in utility substation and transmission line equipment
Experienced in design of protection schemes for substation and transmission line equipment, including bus, line, capacitor and transformer protection schemes and associated settings.
Advanced understanding of SCADA communication design

Additional Information
Many factors are considered when determining compensation at Pond, including scope and level of position, geographic location, candidate skill, knowledge and experience. Starting base pay may vary depending on these factors. We anticipate filling this position as a Director of Electrical Engineering with a salary range of $117,400.00 - $189,500.00 .
