The Senior Tactical Buyer is responsible for the procurement of materials, supplies, and equipment for primarily construction projects. Working with the Category Specialist, activities include negotiating with suppliers, managing inventory, and ensuring that all purchases meet the commercial, quality, and budgetary requirements of the company by evaluating procurement decisions based on total cost of ownership (TCO), promoting long-term value and efficiency. The Senior Tactical Buyer collaborates closely with project teams to meet project timelines and budget constraints as well as mentors junior purchasing staff and supports the Purchasing Manager.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor Degree in Business preferred, if in Supply, Project, or Construction Management a plus
3-5 years of procurement responsibility required
C.P.M. or CPSM certification is desired
Knowledge of the procurement life cycle required
Experience in supplier negotiations and developing and executing sourcing strategies preferred
Working knowledge of Project Management principles in the MEP or Construction industry
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to perform, track, and monitor progress of multiple task simultaneously
Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and meet strict deadlines promptly
Excellent written and verbal communications across internal and external resources and for the development of RFQs, RFPs, and presentations
Skills in metrics development
Excel in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and ERP system
Project management and analytical skills
Ability to apply professional procurement practices focused on meeting the business challenges and needs of the organization
Strong pricing analysis, negotiation and supplier management skills.
Demonstrated track record of high motivation and self-initiative through goals achievement
Organizational awareness, strategic thinking, and team oriented, with the ability to coach less tenured staff
