BUSINESS UNIT: TERMINALS Kinder Morgan is the largest independent terminal operator in North America, providing a strong, reliable network of 144 terminals serving our customers' storage, distribution, blending and logistical needs. Our terminals store and handle renewable fuels, petroleum products, chemicals, vegetable oils and other products. We have a combined liquids storage capacity of approximately 151 million barrels and handle about 59 million tons of dry bulk materials annually. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Terminal Operator, you will be essential to the daily operations of the terminal to ensure that the company and customer's needs are met.
Load/unload product from railcars to storage tanks.
Unload crude oil from railcars to pipeline.
Perform railcar switching activities.
Perform locomotive operator duties.
Perform tank line up for railcars to tank transfer activities.
Knowledge of and/or operate SCADA system for automated transfer activities.
Perform all work in strict accordance with Environmental, Health and Safety policies and procedures.
Perform all work in strict accordance with operating policies, procedures and checklists.
Climb tank stairs, operate valves and pumps, and gauge tanks.
Perform or assist in the performance of preventive and regular maintenance duties.
Assist with product transfer alignments including piping, pumps and associated valves.
Perform facility maintenance/housekeeping duties as assigned.
Emergency Response Team (ERT) membership may be required.
1 - 3 years of experience required or equivalent combination of education/experience
COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must be able to safely operate a self-propelled mobile platform to gain access to the top of railcars to connect vapor vent hoses and open valves.
Must be able to pass respirator fit test.
Maintain training in Safety and Hazmat requirements at the facility.
Must be able to work on docks.
Proficient in comprehension of written work orders.
Basic math skills required.
Able to work with wrenches and pipe wrenches and other tools; requires turning and tightening nuts and bolts.
Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of management.
Must be willing and able to work as a part of team, take direction from supervisor(s), prioritize work schedules, focus attention to details, and follow work rules.
In order to perform essential duties, regular work attendance is required.
Must be willing to work overtime with little or no notice during the week, weekends, holidays, etc as dictated by operations.
Must be willing to be on-call as dictated by operations.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, ECT:
Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers and must be willing to use personal and/or company vehicle in the course of employment.
Must to pass and complete safety training/certification as required by customers to work in their facilities and as required by Kinder Morgan at all locations.
Must obtain and/or meet all requirements to enter foreign trade zones; such as background checks by both the U.S. Coast Guard and the Department of Homeland Security, i.e. obtain and maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC).
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.
Required to stand, walk and climb for extended periods of time.
Climb ladders and work at high elevations, using the proper safety equipment.
Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, bend, squat, reach, etc. for extended periods of time.
Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Regularly exposed to outside in adverse weather conditions and also but not limited to: heights in excess of 5 feet, work in confined spaces, work in elevated areas, etc.
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Two or four year degree with any discipline from accredited college or university OR
Honorable discharge US military , any branch OR
Three years terminal operations/maintenance experience OR
Five years of Industrial experience.
Experience transferring Crude Oil from railcar to tank through heat traced pipeline.
Experience with heating railcars using steam.
Proficient in rail operating and switching procedures.
Experience switching rail cars.
Proficient in tank car offloading procedures for both Ethanol & Crude Operations. Experience loading and unloading rail cars.
Industrial experience is defined as: an individual having experience working in an Industrial setting such as a manufacturing plant, steel mill, refinery, petrochemical plants or energy related industries OR Performed construction work on pipe lines, tanks or manifolds OR Have Millwright or industrial mechanical, welding or electrical experience
