Position Overview

This role involves the operations of basic survey equipment for survey crew activities. The Survey Field Technician reports to the Party Chief and Sr. Survey Manager and operates basic survey equipment, including metal detectors, machetes, prism rods, level rods, and supporting equipment.



Responsibilities:



  • Support field survey team in the development of quality deliverables while working safely and efficiently and maintaining high utilization goals.

  • Coordinate daily task assignments and project prioritization with the Party Chief and Sr. Survey Manager.

  • Use established workflows and procedures to assist with day-to-day survey activities.

  • Responsible for keeping basic equipment cleaned, damage-free, and properly stored.

  • Responsible for restocking survey trucks with supplies.

  • Assists with field survey equipment operations.

  • Assists with setting up temporary traffic control and aids in crew safety.

  • Responsible for the safe operation and cleanliness of survey work vehicles.

  • Complete internal and external safety training programs as required.

  • Willingness to travel out of town and other states is a plus but not required.


Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Prior field experience in surveying, environmental, or construction is a plus

  • Knowledge of math and earth sciences, geography experience, and computer skills

  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record for operating company vehicles

  • Competent use of essential computer software such as M.S. Office




Requirements



MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:



  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration

  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language

  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members

  • Able to stand for approximately 3 hours minimum a day up to 8 hours

  • Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)

  • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working

  • Able to move equipment or inspection specimens weighing up to 50 pounds
