Job Description
Summary
The Lab Technician I will, with adequate training, prepare samples with accuracy and precision in accordance to SGS' SOPs. Work under the direction of a supervisor and as part of a team to meet daily production targets and ensure hold times and turnaround times are met. Always follow safe laboratory practices and maintain a safe working environment.
Job Functions
After appropriate training independently prepare samples for analysis according to SGS' analytical SOPs using basic instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies
Performs routine operation, maintenance, calibration of prep instruments/equipment
Inputs and maintains technical information as needed to support the laboratory functions/operations.
Maintains Laboratory Notebook where applicable.
Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
Performs other duties as required.
Assist in setting up projects for the Research laboratory including germination studies, seed treatment application studies and physical testing of treated seed
Assist the lab in data collection and entry for projects, including entering results into spreadsheets and creating reports for projects.
Assist in treating and packaging seed for external studies
Help with inventory management of the research lab supplies and several seed inventory projects
Ideally, Applicant would have SD Commercial Pesticide Applicator license or the ability to get within 3 months of employment. SGS would provide the means to get this if needed
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Required
High school diploma or GED
0-2 years of experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories seed or biological laboratory or prior experience working with one's hands
Associates Degree in a Chemistry , Biological or Agricultural Science or similar scientific discipline or similar scientific discipline
