General Purpose
A benefits specialist is responsible for managing and administering employee benefits programs for an
organization. These programs may include health insurance, retirement plans, life insurance, disability
insurance, and other employee benefits.
The benefits specialist works closely with the human resources department to ensure that employees are
informed about their benefits options and that the benefits programs are in compliance with legal requirements.
Essential Duties
Administering and auditing employee benefits programs and plans, including health insurance, retirement plans, life insurance, and disability insurance
Be a primary resource to employees and managers regarding company benefits
Communicating benefits information to employees and answering their questions via ticketing system, phone and email in a timely manner.
Maintaining a thorough understanding of employee benefits programs and legal requirements
Maintaining accurate records of employee benefits enrollment and participation
Working closely with the human resources department to ensure that employees are informed about their benefits options.
Assisting with the resolution of benefits-related issues or disputes
Enter National Medical Support Notices in Workday and send communication to employee, Reviews and
Approves or denies Qualifying life events
Provides assistance in executing the daily operations of the benefits department.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field is typically preferred
Language Skills
Must have strong written and Verbal communication skills.
Interpersonal Communication
Provide accurate, detailed responses and build effective working relationships Ability to work collaboratively with key stakeholders Detail oriented, and able to maintain confidential and private personnel data
Physical Demands
Work is generally performed in an office environment
Position requires sitting for extended periods of time
Position requires use of computer for extended periods of time, ability to type and read computer screen
Position requires speaking either on telephone or directly with employees
Occasional travel may be required
