Pay Range: $22.96 - $36.73 per hour

Position Summary:
This position requires working directly with patients who need a surgical procedure or diagnostic testing. Extensive knowledge of Ophthalmology and surgical procedures performed by CRA physicians is required. As a Surgical Coordinator, you should be able to navigate through NextGen or EPM equivalent, as well as EHR (Electronic Health Record) and Microsoft outlook. Surgical Coordinators must also know and follow all Colorado Retina Associates policies and procedures.

Job duties/responsibilities

Will need to be available to go to all locations.
Schedule surgical procedures in EMR system as directed by a physician.
Counsel patients regarding pre-operative and post-operative instructions.
Coordinate any additional testing that may be required off site.
Follow-up phone calls to patients.
Ensure all necessary forms are filled out, signed by the doctor, and sent to the appropriate center/hospital/physician's office.
Assist with scheduling patient transportation to and from surgery as needed.
Obtain insurance authorizations for outpatient procedures/testing or treatment doing done in the hospital or surgery centers.
Provide assistance as needed to reschedule clinical patients due to surgery add-ons.
Communicate with patients regarding:

Procedure Scheduling
Financial/insurance requirements related to procedures.
Financial hardship arrangements
Discuss treatment plans given/recommended by the physicians.

Always perform in a professional manner, including high-pressure situations.
Take initiative to problem solve issues in real time.
Promote positivity and do not engage in gossip.
Attend scheduled meetings.
Other duties as assigned by your /supervisor or manager.
Provide coverage for other team members as needed due to PTO.
Saturday coverage rotation required with peers in the Englewood office as needed.
Be well versed regarding all physician protocols and preferences.


Job Requirements

Excellent communication skills
Ability to multi-task
Good Computer skills
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Knowledge and experience in NextGen EPM and EHR preferred.
Knowledge of Ophthalmic diagnosis preferred.
Ability to learn Colorado Retina physician scheduling preferences and policies as well as insurances accepted by Colorado Retina.

High School Diploma or GED
Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) mandatory within 6 months of hire OR COA/COT/COMT certification or equivalent experience.
Previous work experience in Ophthalmology or Retina preferred.
