POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Foreman, the Concrete Finisher / Form Setter will be responsible for placing, finishing, protecting and repairing concrete. May also be responsible for ensuring the concrete forms are at the correct depth and pitch. constructing built-in-place wooden forms, according to specifications, for molding concrete structures and flatwork.
YOUR ROLE
• Signals concrete deliverer to position truck and facilitate pouring concrete.
• Moves discharge chute of truck to direct concrete into forms.
• Spreads concrete into inaccessible sections of forms, using come along or shovel.
• Levels concrete to specified grade depth and workable consistency, using hand-held screed and floats to bring water to surface and produce soft topping.
• Molds expansion joints and edges, using edging tools, jointers, and straightedge.
• Shapes surfaces of freshly poured concrete, using straightedge and float or power screed.
• Finishes the exposed surfaces of fresh concrete paving to the final grade and contour with the use of straight edges and steel trowels or wets and rubs concrete with abrasive stone to impart finish.
• Removes rough or defective spots from the concrete surfaces, using power grinder or chisel and hammer, and patches holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound.
• Place reinforcing steel/base
• Uses knowledge of standard project details to determine type and dimension of forms to be constructed.
• Cuts lumber to specified dimensions, using handsaw or power saw, and nails lumber together to form panels/forms.
• Erects built-in-place forms on construction site according to blueprint specifications, using hand tools, plumb rule, and level.
• Insert spreaders and tie rods between opposite faces of form to maintain specified dimensions.
• Anchors and braces form fixed objects, using nails, bolts, anchor rods, steel cables, planks, and timbers.
• Has a proper tool to tie steel / rebar.
• Does some labor work like spreading base material for sub grade or preparation for concrete pour
• Places reinforcing steel/base
• Responsible for layout of flatwork
• Wears appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times while on the jobsite (i.e. vest, earplugs, glasses, hard hat, etc.)
• Performs other related duties, as assigned.
WHAT YOU BRING
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The Concrete Finisher while performing the essential functions of this job is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, lift above their head, and talk or hear. The Concrete Finisher is also required to kneel, crouch or stoop, climb ladders, bend at the waist, squat and crawl in tight or confined spaces to perform the essential functions of the job. The Concrete Finisher will occasionally lift, move or push up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision. Ascending or descending stairs is required, and movement of uneven terrain is frequently required to carry out essential duties. The Concrete Finisher will spend time on the physical jobsite. This position is exposed to high temperatures, cool/cold temperatures and loud noises. Work in the construction area poses significantly greater risk due to moving construction equipment and active construction zones with trip and fall hazards.
PRE-SCREEN
Upon offer, employees will be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Must be willing to travel within the State of Texas as needed, overnight or out of town stay may be required up to 2 weeks as needed.
