Job Description:

The Assistant Director serves as a contributing member to the Enrollment Management team responsible for recruiting, advising, and enrolling prospective students to the College and contributing to the overall success of the Enrollment Management team. The Assistant Director is solely responsible for managing a portfolio and managing a geographic territory, in which their primary responsibility is recruitment management, critically assessing applications, making intentional and thoughtful admission decisions, and applying strategic thought to create an impactful and inclusive campus community; serving as a member of the Admission Committee and is specifically responsible for in-person travel and virtual engagements on behalf of the College; interviewing candidates; and presenting to various constituencies (students, school counselors, community-based organizations).

WHAT YOU WILL DO


  • Reviews admission applications to the College; presents recommendations to the admission committee; and has ownership in decision-making processes (this includes some evening and weekend work).

  • Maintains responsibility for geographic territory including oversight of inquiry and applicant statistics and trends; as well as cultivating relationships with students, school counselors, community-based organizations, and alumni/ae.

  • Conducts group information sessions that convey key institutional messaging to prospective students, families, counselors and/or other stakeholders. This includes travel to represent Babson at high schools, college fairs, and other appropriate programs (this includes some evening and weekend work); and support for all virtual programming happening in conjunction with in-person events.

  • Manages and coordinates specialized roles both virtually and in person, which may include event planning, managing student volunteers, overseeing alumni admission programming, overseeing the Office's social media presence and managing various projects within the Office's CRM, Slate. These roles are managed independently and/or as part of the Enrollment Management Team.

  • Simultaneously supports all Admission campaigns and strategies that reach both virtual and in-person audiences; has some knowledge of various platforms which support all admission initiatives.

  • Assumes additional responsibilities as required.

WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED

Bachelor's Degree

At least 2-5 years of experience of increasingly responsible roles in admission or college counseling.

Must have demonstrated ability to work creatively and efficiently, both independently and as part of a team.

Must have a commitment to diversity of all kinds and to creating and cultivating a diverse community.

Must have excellent public speaking, interpersonal, and written communication skills as well as exceptional critical decision-making ability.

Must embrace the philosophy of Entrepreneurial Thought & Action (ET&A) and use creativity and innovation in decision-making.

Ability to envision and propose new methods to perform tasks that support ET&A; work independently to solve problems; look for opportunities to take on responsibility; take thoughtful risks; and accept new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain sought-after results.

Ability to anticipate and embrace change; demonstrate willingness to achieve, acquire, and utilize new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in changing conditions.

Must have strong technological skills for Microsoft Office or Google products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Experience with digital event platforms preferred.

HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK

Requires work onsite a minimum of 3 days a week (more onsite days are required during certain times of the year); the on-campus requirement is subject to modification based on organizational need.

Requires a willingness to work evenings and weekends to attend events, read applications, etc.

Requires the ability to travel both domestically and internationally (annual travel is estimated at approximately 4-6 weeks of travel in the fall and 2 in the spring).

Must have had a valid unrestricted U.S. Driver's License for one year; must maintain throughout employment an insurable (as determined by the College's insurer's criteria) or a satisfactory driving record; must successfully complete and pass the College's vehicle training program within the first 60 days of employment; annual or more frequent review of employee's driving record based on the College insurer's criteria; and safety training as required by management.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS YOU MAY HAVE


  • Involvement and/or leadership in affiliate organization such as NEACAC, NACAC, IACAC, College Board, etc. preferred but not required.

  • Previous familiarity with Slate as a CRM platform preferred.

  • Experience with digital event platforms preferred.
