Job Description
Job Summary
The Office of Clinical Research is hiring a Clinical Research Nurse (CRN) to assist with carrying out clinical trials in both oncology and non-oncology research. The trials we are working on focus on improving patient outcomes and quality of life - and will hopefully bring new treatments to Standards of Care. This is a great opportunity for someone with an interest in exploring a new and different direction in nursing and patient care; a position with a more structured schedule (no on-call, no nights, weekends or holidays!) with an excellent work-life balance in a supportive team environment. "Today's Standard of Care was Yesterday's Clinical Trial. Consider Clinical Research!"
This is a full-time position with full benefits with regular / flexible daytime hours Monday-Friday. The CRN's primary duties involve: screening patient records and identifying possible research candidates, understanding and executing study protocols in a clinical setting, consenting patients, data entry to various platforms, query resolution, participating in meetings, attending tumor boards, preparing for sponsor monitoring visits, conducting patient assessments (including physical exams, phlebotomy and sample shipment preparation), patient monitoring and education. The CRN is responsible for fostering relationships with study participants as well as other departments in the Cancer Institute. Must be thorough in documentation and record-keeping in accordance with regulations set forth by the Federal Code of Regulation (21CFR and 45 CFR), central IRBs, University of Maryland IRB and by study sponsors.
