YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Patient Care & Examination:
    1. Minimize wait times and see patients efficiently, averaging a comparable patient count per hour to other staff members.
    2. Conduct independent audiology exams, examining procedures and performing otoscopic setup, patient comfort, and thorough disinfection between tests.
    3. Conduct hearing tests in multi-person sound booths using DOEHRS-HC, ensuring accurate setup, patient comfort, and thorough disinfection between tests.
  2. Diagnostic & Quality Control:
    1. Complete daily function checks and biological calibrations to maintain equipment reliability and accuracy.
    2. Review test results for clarity, contract, and accuracy, documenting findings to meet or exceed set standards.
    3. Maintain precise records for all tests, ensuring all documentation is legible, accurate, and completed within required timeframes.
  3. Collaboration & Compliance:
    1. Seek advice from consultants as needed and communicate any potential or encountered issues to clinic leadership.
    2. Maintain productivity in line with MTF standards and follow Joint Commission standards for healthcare safety and quality.


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Education:

  • High school diploma or completion of an occupational hearing conservationist course:
    1. Certification from an Army, Navy, or Air Force hearing program is acceptable.

Experience:

  • At least one (1) year of full-time experience within the past three (3) years as an Audiology Technician, with a focus on patient interaction and diagnostic testing.

Licensure & Certifications:

  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
  • Certification as a Hearing Conservationist by the Council of Accreditation of Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) is highly desired but not mandatory.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Attention to Detail:
    1. Sharp focus on quality control, precise data entry, and equipment management.
  • Communication Skills:
    1. Ability to clearly explain procedures to patients and accurately report findings to medical staff.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    1. Skilled in operating and calibrating audiometric equipment, conducting sound tests, and reviewing diagnostic results.
  • Confidentiality:
    1. Understanding of HIPAA guidelines and patient confidentiality, ensuring all patient interactions and records are managed with discretion.

WORK CONDITIONS:

Location:

  • Work will primarily be performed at William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC) and affiliated facilities within a forty (40) mile radius with potential assignments based on operational needs.

Schedule:

  • Hours may vary based on mission requirements, including surge support during mobilizations and demobilizations. Flexibility is required to meet mission demands.

Compliance:

  • Follow government, DoD, and MTF clinical standards, and record work hours accurately in DMHRSi and other required systems.
