SUMMARY



Bering Global Solutions, LLC (BGS), a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation, is currently seeking a qualified Planner for Norfolk, VA. Planners will perform a full range of technical and administrative functions. They will validate work to be accomplished, set, and adjust priorities, evaluate work performance, investigate regulatory matters, resolve complaints, and identify any developmental or training needs of teammates. Planners work directly with the material envelope (DLA/DDPV) personnel to ensure all kitted material is properly called out, processed, and staged for zone manager review.



Responsibilities




ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position, and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Planners work closely with WPC to identify the proper material to support the call-out processes determined in the Short-Range View (SRV), using the MNRt for reference, to ensure material is called out within six weeks of job start date in accordance with the Task Group Instruction (TGI).
  • Coordinate with the tool room to arrange pickup and delivery of tools to support mechanics on the deck plate.
  • Planners will communicate with work packaging to ensure called out material is received correctly, inventoried, and kitted properly.
  • Coordinate any discrepancies with JRC Leads and Project Material Managers (PMMs) for resolution
  • Facilitate ongoing communication and feedback with JRC team members and production work teams is to resolve process deficiencies as they are identified
  • Regularly attend project meetings for critical nonnuclear work to ensure readiness actions are started promptly to support the work
  • Planners will work with project resource management, project supervisors, and tool providers to meet initial tool and equipment needs, and established processes to support ripout throughout execution.Communicate any readiness issues to project teams that may impact the scheduled start of the job to assist in the material ripout offload process

Education and Work Experience


  • 2 years minimum of direct planning experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent


Required (Minimum) Qualifications


  • Planners will apply successful management practices and work with the Job Readiness Cell (JRC) program managers and leads on all functions related to pre-availability through project completion
  • Planners must be experienced in working directly with Project Superintendents (PS), Assistant Project Superintendent (APS), and Availability Work Packaging (AWP) to coordinate the removal of all shipboard component material for project availability following Task Group Instruction (TGI)


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics


  • Planners must have an in-depth knowledge of pertinent NNSY programs used such as MAT, ARK, AIM, CBIC, and the Material Needs Review technology (MNRt) database. Planners utilize the MNRt database to review start dates from the AIM database (and work execution), to confirm and validate material call-outs.
  • Knowledge of how to correctly manage the project laydown area for removal of shipboard component material, and monitoring material handling operators and vehicles.
  • Understanding of management skills relating to various aspects of the employee lifecycle.

  • This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation "safety-sensitive" functions.


WORK ENVIRONMENT



Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.


Job is performed in an active shipyard with exposure to elements, warehousing and logistics operations with heavy machinery and components, and large moving parts. Extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily a modern office and warehouse setting. Occasional travel may be required.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Direct interaction and coordination with senior military, government officials, and peers


ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS



As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base. Must have reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations.
