SUMMARY



Stampede Ventures Inc, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking a qualified Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic for its operations in Nome Alaska. The Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic will oversee and perform any and all repairs on equipment in the Nome Area in accordance with all manufacturers' recommendations, and company policy.

Responsibilities




ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position, and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job.

  • Work with the Shop Foreman and Manager's to maintain all Heavy-Duty Equipment and keep it in safe, working order.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records of all work done to equipment.
  • Other Duties as assigned.


Qualifications




QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION




Required (Minimum) Qualifications


  • Must have a valid Alaska Driver's License
  • 10+ years of Mechanical experience in Heavy Equipment, including loaders, dozers, excavators, drills, and articulating haul trucks.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics


  • Knowledge of Cat Operating systems, ability to troubleshoot and repair as necessary
  • Knowledge of Atlas Copco and Furukawa Drill operating systems, ability to troubleshoot and repair as necessary.
  • Ability to order necessary parts to complete maintenance and repairs as necessary.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision.
  • Ability to work with computers to trouble shoot various systems on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles.


Preferred


  • Cat Certified Mechanic
  • 15 years mechanical experience
  • Class A CDL

DOT COVERED/SAFETY-SENSITIVE ROLE REQUIREMENTS


  • This position does perform DOT "safety-sensitive" functions (as defined under 49 CFR Part 40) and is subject to all federal requirements related to Department of Transportation requirements for those performing, or on-call to perform, "safety-sensitive" functions. Employees must provide a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and Medical Examiner's Certificate (MEC).



WORK ENVIRONMENT



Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.


Job is performed outdoors with almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, bio hazardous materials, dirt, fumes, smoke and/or loud noises.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • No supervisory responsibilities, provides direct reports.


ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS



As a condition of employment, will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results. Must have reliable transportation to/from work.
