Description: Job Summary

The HR Business Systems Analyst will support the administration of HBS' HRIS and Payroll Services function. The role will collaborate with others to assess system needs, implement improvements, troubleshoot issues, and provide training and support to users. In addition, the position will be instrumental in managing medium to large-scale projects, conducting thorough analysis to ensure feasibility, scalability, and alignment with business requirements and organizational priorities, and recommending solutions that build efficiencies, eliminate manual processes, and support strategic and operational needs.

Position Description

Responsibilities Include:
  • Audit, troubleshoot, and resolve PeopleSoft (PS) data issues
  • Make data adjustments in the system, including adding, extracting, and uploading HR data
  • Process PeopleSoft, QlikView, and other HRIS security requests and participate in the University-Wide Yearly Access Review audits
  • Assist with PeopleSoft ePerformance maintenance, new PS release implementations when necessary, and staff salary increase/review processing
  • Process HR personnel transactions as needed
  • Design and produce HR surveys and present analysis using Qualtrics and Excel Work on HRIS-related projects and assist with other technical department-wide projects when needed
  • Participate on multiple University-wide HRIS committees
  • Act as a backup for the Associate Director of HRIS
  • Consulting with HR managers and other departments to determine HRIS needs.
  • Analyzing HRIS performance metrics and resolving application issues.
  • Documenting processes, identifying HR concerns, and compiling data analysis reports.
  • Performing application upgrades, as well as and providing training and technical support.
  • Developing and implementing new processes and systems for efficient HR management.
  • Optimizing HRIS processes, integrating new software, and performing diagnostic tests.
  • Ensuring the efficient recording and secure storage of HR metrics, including attendance and employee performance data.
  • Performing audits on HR processes and documents, including hiring, termination of service, and payroll administration, when required.
  • Conduct all standard duties of a business systems analyst including, but not limited to: gather requirements and define as-is vs to-be processes; develop scope in line with system capabilities; write test scripts and coordinate all UAT efforts; create documentation, training, and change management resources; support deployment and cutover activities
  • Manage projects, or collaborate with our HR PMO as needed, from start to finish that have been committed to on our roadmap
  • Partner closely with IT for alignment on platform and technical expertise, as well as periodic system upgrades, which include evaluating newly released HR features and developing plans for adoption if in support of operational needs
  • Use your expertise and understanding of the business to influence the HR Business Applications roadmap
  • Provide day-to-day production support for our HR Business Applications, which currently include ServiceNow HR and Simpplr
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned


Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
  • Education beyond high school may count toward experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in HRIS, IT, or data analytics is required.
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) is required.


Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Overall knowledge of HR practices and experience with benefits and/or medical case management preferred, including ADA regulations and federal and state leave guidelines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people in sensitive situations with empathy, objectivity, and respect.
  • This position requires a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Outstanding customer focus, organization, attention to detail, problem-solving, and dedication to due diligence.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced deadline driven environment; to work in and learn multiple systems and processes; be able to multi-task, prioritize work and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Strong relationship building skills as well as the ability to build trust and credibility with different stakeholders, i.e., employees, vendors, managers.
  • Strong writing and facilitation skills.
  • The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team.


Additional Information

This is a hybrid position which we consider to be a combination of remote and onsite work at our Boston, MA based campus. HBS expects all staff to be onsite a minimum of 3 days per week and departments provide onsite coverage Monday - Friday. Specific hours and days onsite will be determined by business needs and are subject to change with appropriate advanced notice.

This is a 35 hours/week, overtime-eligible position.
