Summary: The Copy Editor is responsible for crafting and executing engaging copy that aligns with brand and product standards for use in our e-content library. The candidate will excel in clear and concise writing as well as a mastery understanding of grammar. In addition to strong writing skills, the ideal candidate will be able to synthesis large portions of information into strong actionable feature bullets that comply with company standards and style guide. Candidates should be eager to help shape our e-content library with best in-class copy creation and a thirst for provoking online engagement for our product offerings.

Location: Smyrna (near Battery Center)

Standard Work Hours: 40hrs/week

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Proofread text and correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors
  • Check text for style, readability, and adherence to editorial policies
  • Rewrite text to improve clarity and readability
  • Research and write product descript
  • Categorize products
  • Manage multiple projects at a time

Education/Experience:

4-year degree in Journalism, Communications or English; or 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AP Style (usage guide by the Associated Press); Copy writing experience required.

Communication Skills:

The ability to communicate e-content changes to multiple production team members. The skills to communicate in a training capacity. The ability to communicate instructions in a clear and concise manner. Coordination of projects involving department, vendor, and production individuals.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form. The ability to write reports, business correspondence, and effectively present information and respond to questions from all levels of Management.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve difficult problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. The ability to recognize areas in need of standardization. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to organize and prioritize.

Computer Skills:

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications Excel, Word, and Power Point. Knowledge of Access, FileMaker Pro, or Enable database software is a plus.

Needed Attributes:

Ability to stay focused within hectic, sometimes stressful, environment. Ability to change assignments on short notice. Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel within the company as well as vendors. The ability to understand numerous departmental functions and how they impact each other.
