Job Type: Contract
Location: San Antonio, Texas
Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Monday - Friday)
Rate: Competitive & Dependent on Experience
Job Responsibilities:
Reviews assigned medical records to verify clinical data elements for HEDIS reporting.
Identifies findings supported by documentation guidelines with a high level of accuracy.
Maintains HIPAA standards and confidentiality of protected health information; reports critical incidents immediately.
Prioritizes and organizes own work to meet agreed-upon deadlines.
Communicates identification of pursuit leads for additional medical records, if needed, to other team members.
Attends conference calls as necessary to provide information relating to clinical reviews and compliance.
Successfully completes HEDIS technical specification training and testing.
Successfully completes HEDIS software training and uses the software correctly.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Minimum 2 years of HEDIS experience and/or knowledge
Solid knowledge of managed care requirements related to clinical quality
Strong medical record review and abstraction skills preferred
Research and detail-oriented with excellent proofreading skills
Excellent time management and prioritization skills
Strong communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Adobe, and PowerPoint
Critical thinking skills
Results-driven, independent worker, and self-starter
In this role, you will assist in reviewing medical records to identify Star/HEDIS opportunities, ensuring data collection, entry, and quality monitoring to close gaps in care. You'll collaborate with leadership and clinical staff to identify trends and develop strategies, while communicating any challenges that may impact quality outcomes. Additionally, you'll conduct in-bound and out-bound calls for quality requirements, provide clerical and administrative support for special projects, and deliver excellent customer service. Maintaining a strong knowledge base of HEDIS/STARs and performing data mining are also key aspects of this role.
