YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Laboratory Testing and Procedures:
Perform laboratory procedures and tests accurately and efficiently, following medical and laboratory standards.
Document all procedures and tests conducted, ensuring records are clear, complete, and in line with applicable directives.
Quality Control and Compliance:
Adhere to quality control policies, performing instrument and procedural calibrations and documenting maintenance activities.
Ensure all tests meet laboratory quality standards, and promptly report any issues that may affect test results to supervisors or medical personnel.
Specimen Handling and Processing:
Follow established protocols for specimen collection, handling, and processing.
Maintain records of all Service Members (SMs) test results ensuring compliance with Military Treatment Facility (MTF) guidelines for analysis and reporting.
Documentation and Reporting:
Prepare and maintain all documentation and reports with accuracy, legibility, and completeness, meeting established standards for timeliness and content.
Track hours worked in the Defense Medical Human Resources System – internet (DMHRSi) and other required systems.
Safety and Compliance:
Comply with health requirements, immunizations, and vaccinations, maintaining health certifications as per DoD, DHA, and MTF standards.
Complete all mandatory training requirements to stay current with relevant regulations and healthcare practices.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Education:
Certificate or associate degree from an accredited program (NAACLS, ABHES, or AMT acceptable).
Experience:
Minimum of one (1) year of full-time experience in a laboratory setting within the past three (3) years.
Licensure & Certifications:
Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologist (AMT).
Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
Skills & Competencies:
Technical Skills:
Proficient in various laboratory procedures, including blood draws, specimen processing, and laboratory testing methods.
Clinical Knowledge:
Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology relevant to laboratory testing and patient care.
Communication:
Effective communication skills for interacting with healthcare team members, patients, and military personnel, to include comprehensive explanations concerning procedures and results.
Collaboration:
Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team, contributing to a positive and efficient work environment.
WORK CONDITIONS:
Location:
Work will primarily be performed at William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC) and affiliated facilities within a forty (40) mile radius with potential assignments based on operational needs.
Schedule:
Hours may vary based on mission requirements, including surge support during mobilizations and demobilizations. Flexibility is required to meet mission demands.
Compliance:
Follow government, DoD, and MTF clinical standards, and record work hours accurately in DMHRSi and other required systems.
