As a Pharmacy Technician for Choctaw Workforce Solutions (CWS), you will play an essential role in supporting the health and readiness of service members by ensuring accurate, safe, and timely dispensing of medications. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prescription Processing & Verification:
Accurately receive and review prescription orders, verify details, and ensure compliance with legal standards and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Process prescriptions, including determining medication type, strength, and dosage, and coordinate with CPs and Pharmacists to address any dosing, interaction, or instruction issues.
Medication Preparation & Patient Guidance:
Gather and prepare medications, inspect for quality and accuracy, and verify labels against original prescriptions setting aside filled prescriptions for a final check by the Pharmacist.
Provide patients with clear instructions on medication use, referring any professional inquiries to a registered Pharmacist.
Inventory & Stock Management:
Review stock levels and conduct inventory, ensuring the pharmacy is adequately supplied.
Complete orders, receive and organize incoming stock, and coordinate adjustments based on demand or seasonal needs.
Monitor expiration dates, rotate stock, and report any unusual conditions. Assist in staff education on proper storage and security of medications.
Security & Quality Assurance:
Maintain limited access to pharmaceuticals, ensure security, and adherence to inventory protocols.
Support quality assurance by participating in data collection, reviewing storage practices, and conducting regular inspections of medication areas.
Productivity & Compliance:
Adhere to productivity standards and maintain a level of performance consistent with other team members.
Ensure compliance with health, immunization, and vaccination requirements, and complete all specified DoD, DHA, and MTF training.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Education:
Graduate from an ASHP-accredited pharmacy technician program, or another recognized formal pharmacy program, or a U.S. Military medical services training program.
Experience:
At least one (1) year of full-time experience as a Pharmacy Technician within the last three (3) years in a hospital, retail, or equivalent setting.
Licensure & Certifications:
Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification (must be maintained throughout employment).
Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
Skills & Competencies:
Prescription Management
Familiar with prescription screening, labeling, and dispensing best practices.
Inventory Proficiency
Skilled in managing stock, conducting inspections, and coordinating adjustments for pharmacy needs.
Patient-Centered
Capable of providing medication instructions with clarity and care, prioritizing patient safety.
Confidentiality Awareness:
Understanding of HIPAA guidelines and patient confidentiality, ensuring all patient interactions and records are managed with discretion.
WORK CONDITIONS:
Location:
Work will primarily be performed at William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC) and affiliated facilities within a forty (40) mile radius with potential assignments based on operational needs.
Schedule:
Hours may vary based on mission requirements, including surge support during mobilizations and demobilizations. Flexibility is required to meet mission demands.
Compliance:
Follow government, DoD, and MTF clinical standards, and record work hours accurately in DMHRSi and other required systems.
