The Physical Therapy Assistant Lab Assistant assists faculty in lab sessions to ensure student safety and competency when learning and practicing physical therapy interventions and data collection technique. The lab assistant may monitor students during open lab sessions outside of scheduled class times to ensure students are performing skills correctly and safely. The lab assistant may provide tutorial services to students in order to enhance academic progress and success in PTA courses
Reporting Relationship:
Direct reporting relationship to the Dean, Allied Health and Emergency Services
Essential Responsibilities:
Monitor students during scheduled lab classes and or open lab sessions.
After consultation with faculty, tutor students on curriculum content.
Ensures that everyone in the lab adheres to the appropriate lab and industry safety standards.
Adheres to all PTA program and College policies and procedures.
Conducts self in a professional manner at all times.
Maintains records of student contacts and other documentation as assigned by faculty.
Communicates with program faculty as appropriate.
Helps to maintain the cleanliness and organization of individual labs.
Assists in maintaining equipment as assigned.
Performs other duties as assigned and is licensed or trained to perform.
Minimum Qualifications:
Licensed physical therapist or physical therapist assistant in Illinois.
One year of full time post licensure clinical practice
Strong communication, interpersonal, problem solving, and mentoring skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two years of full time post licensure clinical practice.
One year of experience as a PTA lab assistant.
Anticipated Work Hours and Days:
8a.m. to 12:00 p.m.; Wednesday and Thursday. 1-2 hours weekly as needed for open lab
Salary:
$22/hr.
