POSITION SUMMARY
Adapt to new and changing situations and demonstrate a positive attitude. Fifteen credit hours a semester constitute a standard load. Course assignments may be late afternoon, evening, Saturday, and at branch campuses or satellite centers. Position is subject to all terms and provisions of the Joliet Junior College faculty contract.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Teach at least a minimum course load each semester during fall and spring semesters to include early morning classes, day classes and evening classes.
2. Work closely with other instructors and special programs and services within the college to determine placements, curriculum, and academic support.
3. Participate in course development, assessment, accreditation, and planning activities.
4. Be willing to teach online and/or hybrid courses.
5. Participate in appropriate departmental meetings and recruitment activities; serve on committees.
6. Assist students with academic advising.
7. Assist with or coordinate program responsibilities.
8. Teach at other campus sites as needed.
9. Meet other contractual obligations as spelled out in the Joliet Junior College faculty contract.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor's degree in architecture or construction or related discipline AND a minimum of 5 years of related industry work experience in the construction industry, OR a combination of education, training, and tested experience.
2. Possess advanced knowledge and experience in commercial construction methods, materials, graphics, documentation, and project management.
3. Expertise in appropriate technologies for instruction including knowledge of industry software relevant to the industry such as Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit, Procore, MS Project, etc.
4. Demonstrated commitment to teaching and learning.
5. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.
6. Demonstrated commitment to the college's core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation and quality.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Diverse ten-plus (10+) years of experience in the construction industry in a wide variety of sectors and project size.
2. Demonstrated experience in the integrated design process of construction projects.
3. Professional credential or substantial sustainable construction experience.
4. Possess a network of industry companies and professionals to integrate and expand opportunities for program students.
5. Experience teaching at the collegiate level
6. Experience with traditional and non-traditional personnel from diverse backgrounds.
7. Proficiency in teaching online and/or using course management programs.
8. Experience in course development and assessment, planning, quality and accreditation processes, and committee service.
9. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
10. Demonstrated multicultural competence.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Standard classroom equipment and software.
2. The ability to work with the materials, tools, and equipment in the construction lab.
