Purpose: Responsible for dispatching trucks for on-time departure. Monitors drivers and shares info with effected customers to notify them of potential late deliveries or problems.
Schedule: Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Job Responsibilities:
• Percentage Processes customer invoices and assembles delivery paperwork.
• Monitors shipping and route progress in SCI and PeopleNet Link and verifies on-time arrivals.
• Breaks down driver packets and processes customer invoices.
• Collaborates with Customer for late truck notifications. May engage Customers Care for service escalations.
• Sorts, separates, and files invoices, route packets, and driver inspections.
• Completes data entry of equipment information, driver start/end times, and actual delivery times.
• Handles all incoming calls and emails. 10% Re-dispatch drivers as needed for coverage and to support on-time deliveries.
• Dispatch repair services for equipment break downs and handle accident reporting procedures.
• Maintains a clean and safe working environment.
• Reports violations of company policy to supervisor.
• Performs other relevant job duties as required.
Experience:
• Transportation/Dispatch experience preferred but not required Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:
• Understanding of Safety guidelines
• Must have the ability to react to fast-paced, stressful situations in a calm, professional and efficient manner
• Ability to prioritize and work independently with good organizational and time management skills.
• Must have good communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees.
• Astute, close attention to detail
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
• Familiar with delivery routes and DOT rules and regulations
• Understanding of procedures in other areas of the warehouse for a more global understanding of all processes
Physical Environment/ Demands:
• Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.
• Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
• Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment during normal workday.
• Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties.
• Infrequently exposed to temperatures ranging from 20 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in the dock area or outside the work area
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
