POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, and in collaboration with the Physician Site Director, the incumbent will be responsible for daily clinic operations in the Lexington site and responsible for 15 or more FTE's. Manages the day- to-day clinic operations and office based procedural areas of the suburban multi-specialty outpatient location, including (but not limited to) personnel onboarding, supervision and development; management of workflow and throughput in the office; patient and physician satisfaction; inventory management. Maintains strict confidentiality regarding these matters at all times.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The incumbent will be the operational leader of the clinic areas. He/she will manage daily clinical operations and facilitate growth of and efficiency, while managing quality, patient access and service within the assigned area. He/she will train and supervise technical staff and team leads. He/she will be a leader across the Ophthalmology Department, and work with Department Leadership to improve efficiencies in the services and work in collaboration with their fellow managers.
Primary responsibilities are:
- Plans, hires, trains and allocates technical staff in the clinic and office based procedural areas while working collaboratively with other OPH and MEEI leaders. Conducts performance reviews and evaluates staff technical competencies.
- Supervises clinical operations leads, technical staff and others in the daily delivery of clinical services.
- Ensures optimal patient care by re-deploying staff to meet demands of the clinic and office based procedural areas and provides hands-on clinical workups as needed to fill shifts.
- Ensures clinical and ophthalmic testing equipment is in working order and engages internal and external resources to address issues or equipment failures.
- Proactively identifies opportunities to improve quality, service, patient satisfaction and utilization performance metrics. Develops and implements improvement plans in collaboration with Senior Site Manager, Department and Service/Site Leadership.
- Contributes to the implementation of workflow and system improvements, meeting the needs of the Department, utilizing the MEE/ MGB systems including but not limited to EPIC, PeopleSoft, UKG, etc.
- Works effectively and collaboratively with Senior Site Manager and peers in other departments at MEE to affect a robust infrastructure.
- Assists the Director in developing and monitoring annual operating and capital budgets and overall departmental goals. Controls and conserves operation expenses and manages clinical supplies inventory.
- Assures consistent use of resources are deployed to ensure an optimal patient experience with particular focus on vulnerable populations with special accommodation requirements.
- Addresses patient concerns, requests, and questions.
- Serves on committees as needed in a leadership capacity representing the Department and Site.
- Interfaces with departments and services across the network as needed in a collaborative effort.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Lift frequently moderate weights; push stretchers/beds/wheelchairs; pull charts, beds equipment, patients to a standing position; stretch across beds/patients, stand for long periods of time; support dependent weight of patients as they get out of bed/chair, or walk.
Potential exposure to environmental hazards and infectious material are identified during annual mandatory in-service where techniques and procedures taught and adhered will reduce/eliminate risk. Protection barrier equipment/clothes are readily available in all patient care areas and staff is oriented to the same location.
