Maintain vet services laboratory including equipment and inventory
Manage preventive health and nutrition programs prescribed by the veterinarians for companion animals.
Assist for surgical procedures including preparation, set up, anesthesia administration and monitoring, instrument sterilization, surgical preparation.
Complete companion animal dental evaluations and prophylaxis
Administer and direct clinical treatments as prescribed by clinical vets as needed.
Collect and analyze blood, urine and fecal samples
Assist in Vet Services administrative tasks
Support key programs for animals including environmental monitoring, environmental enrichment, acclimation and facility reviews.
Support with development and delivery of training material for individuals working with animals.
Support all aspects of maintaining laboratory animals in compliance with the Animal Welfare Act, the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, and the Ag Guide.
Good oral and written communication skills required
Computer skills required: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
Ability to develop and maintain effective, trusting work and customer relationships
Self-starter, able to prioritize work and work efficiently with minimal or no supervision
Ability to flex with changing workloads: ability to organize, schedule and deliver work for ongoing multiple research projects in a team setting.
Ability to communicate with customers and team members
Lifting: May include occasional lifting up to 40 pounds
Minimum Qualifications:
Licensed Veterinary Technician degree, either a 2 years Associate's degree or a 4 year Bachelor's degree and minimum of zero to two years of veterinary clinic experience OR
Associates degree as a Licensed Veterinary Technician and a minimum of 2 years veterinary clinic experience
Expertise in companion animal species, experience with livestock and poultry are also desirable.
