The Controller will manage all financial operations, encompassing accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance. This vital role is key to maintaining the company's financial health and integrity, offering strategic financial insights, and aiding the executive team in informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management: Oversee all accounting functions, including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans while monitoring and reporting financial performance against these budgets.
Financial Reporting: Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and Work in Progress (WIP) reports, ensuring adherence to GAAP and other regulatory standards.
Internal Controls: Establish and maintain effective internal controls to protect company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Audit and Compliance: Coordinate and oversee external audits while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations.
Strategic Planning: Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic business initiatives, collaborating with senior management on financial planning and analysis.
Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the accounting team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
Adherence to Standards: Perform all responsibilities in line with Focus Design Builders' core values and company standards, as well as the Operations Manual and Safety Manual.
Reporting: This position reports directly to the President.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
A minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
Experience in the construction industry is strongly preferred.
Familiarity with Acumatica and Procore software is a plus.
In-depth knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements.
Proficiency in accounting software and the Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Proven leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
