Job Description
The Instructional Technologist role manages and supports essential academic software, such as Sakai (course management), the Google Suite, Kaltura (video streaming), Wordpress, VoiceThread, Perusall, etc. This support includes maintaining ongoing relationships with the respective vendors.
The Instructional Technologist organizes and delivers research and instruction services to the Wellesley College community. They offer guidance in the selection and use of technology resources to students, faculty, and staff; provide individual consultations to students on the design and execution of technical assignments and projects; and provide instruction to students and faculty on the use of appropriate technology resources for academic work.
About the Role:
As the Instructional Technologist at Wellesley College, you will play a pivotal role in managing and supporting essential academic software, including Sakai, the Google Suite, Kaltura, Wordpress, VoiceThread, Perusall, and more. You will work closely with students, faculty, and staff to enable and enhance their academic work through the effective use of technology.
As a member of the deeply-merged Research & Instructional Support (RIS) group composed of instructional technologists and research and instruction librarians, you will regularly collaborate on instructional and research projects within the group as well as with partners throughout Library and Technology Services (LTS). RIS team members leverage diverse specialties to support and develop scholarship and learning throughout the Wellesley community.
Primary Responsibility
Technology Evaluation and Support: Use your expertise to evaluate, advise on, select, deploy, and support technology resources that meet the College's research and instructional needs
Additional Responsibilities
Contribute to the Instructional Technology (IT) team: Provide services in LTS service locations, maintain electronic content, and lead or participate in projects that improve service delivery.
Project Work: Engage in various team and LTS initiatives.
Relationship Building: Develop and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, departments, programs, and vendors to meet the community's teaching, learning, and research needs.
Instruction and Consultation: Prepare and teach classes as well as provide one-on-one consultations to educate and support the Wellesley community in their use of essential academic software.
Outreach and Innovation: Promote the use of library and technology resources and support faculty and students in innovative uses of technology.
Experience: Minimum of three years' experience in instructional technology consulting, outreach, teaching, and support require
