Perform tasks under general supervision on heavy highway and bridge projects to include, but not limited to:
Operate all equipment as needed, specifically the concrete paving spread.
Diagnose and repair/rebuild all equipment and vehicles as determined necessary
Repairs vehicles and equipment according to schedules
Perform routine maintenance of equipment and vehicles as needed and on time
Operate construction equipment and vehicles in order to repair
Perform miscellaneous welding to repair items (not requiring a certified welder)
Strive to maintain zero repeat/redo repairs
Clean equipment and vehicles in the process of making repairs
Maintain daily logs in a legitimate, timely and organized fashion
May drive company vehicles to fuel and service equipment and get parts
Assist in keeping the shop and jobsites organized and clean
Assist with small tool and equipment maintenance and repairs as needed
Assist crews with paver size changes
Performs additional duties as assigned
Job Requirements
High school education or equivalent; or up to two years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
A minimum of 4 years of experience working on general heavy construction equipment/ vehicles
A minimum of 4 years of experience performing field repairs for Cranes, Forklifts, and Boom Lifts.
A minimum of 4 years of experience working with diesel fuel systems, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems
Experience working on Gomaco and Wirtgen Slip Form Paving Train preferred, including placer spreader, pave and texture/cure machines, concrete batch plants
Perform General Physical Activities - physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs and moving whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials
Must be able to climb on and off of equipment
Handling and Moving Objects - using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.
Ability to frequently lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds as needed with or without accommodation
Valid Driver's License is required; Commercial Driver License (CDL) preferred
Ability to communicate with Supervisors, Peers, and/ or Subordinates (providing information by telephone, in written form, and in person)
Meet schedule requirements of average ten (10) hours per day, at least five (5) days per week. All work is performed outdoors in Florida heat and rain in right of way and potentially high-traffic areas.
Able to work nights and weekends; and travel as required
