Overview


Snap-on Diagnostics, a division of Snap-on Inc., is looking for a Hardware Engineering Test Engineer as part of our Platform Development Engineering design team in Lincolnshire, IL, USA. Our team is focused on product design and development of automotive diagnostic test equipment for the automotive service market.


Position Description:


Independently design and develop requirements, test systems, and test software as a senior level contributor and project leader. Assist in directing technical personnel to support project and process initiatives. Develop new test and validation processes and procedures in conjunction with engineering development teams to support product development from concept phase through manufacturing product launch phase. Support sustaining products in manufacturing through communication with engineering and operations teams.


Qualifications:


Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience


Years of experience: Extensive technical knowledge and a minimum of 5-7 years of related industry experience.


Responsibilities:


Facilitate the NPI-New Product Introduction process through test engineering processes to support the transition of products from development phase through manufacturing and sustaining phases.


Communicate with internal and external manufacturing sites regarding product manufacturing and testing requirements. Develop product test procedures and test equipment requirements.


Key Competencies:


Experience in project management in a product development engineering field.


Experience with test system design and test requirements development against product functional requirements. Experience with DFM-Design For Manufacturing/Manufacturability.


Experience with Windows PC based test tools (i.e.: Labview, etc.) and related script-based test development for product testing and manufacturing testing.


Experience in reading electronic schematics, read/review PCB layout routing, electronic components, and embedded electronic products.


Experience in using Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, Project, and Outlook


Familiar with assisting in capital expenditure requests.


Familiar with UL and CE product safety test standards including EMC.


Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills are required for this role.
