The Senior Buyer handles the plant quoting and purchasing of supplies, tooling and services required to support activities for manufacturing and maintenance. Coordinates OSP shipments, receipts, and invoices. Helps evaluate products and services in terms of quality, delivery and price to provide the most value to corporation and requisitioning party. This position assures compliance with SOX regulations and Snap-on delegation of authority policies. Develops and executes strategies for continuous improvement of overall total cost of procurement.
Responsibilities
Obtain necessary quotes to provide facility with best available costs on supplies and services required by the facility
Issue purchase orders on supplies and services required by the facility to obtain the best price, delivery and quality possible
Help to continually reduce MRO inventory quantities and costs to minimize total spend
Develop and execute strategies for continuous improvement of overall total cost of procurement.
This should include cost and maintenance/tooling inventory reduction, delivery performance, and quality improvement.
Interact with all departments within the plant to discuss supplies, tooling and services required.
Develop and maintain a list of qualified vendors via personal or telephone interviews with vendor representatives and MRO Supervisor
Select primary vendors based on quality, delivery and price.
Document and discuss delivery, performance and quality issues with suppliers.
Identify activities and conditions requiring corrective actions; communicate recommendations regarding these matters to the proper MRO Supervisor for actions to be taken to remedy the matter.
Provide monthly financial analyses on pre-determined item spending patterns.
Provide monthly listing open Purchase Orders with no receipts; explain same if outside normal pre-determined parameters.
Develop weekly credit card spending analysis for use in financial flashes and forecasts.
Tracks monthly costs savings in conjunction with vendors.
Works with Nexiant personnel to minimize maintenance inventory in the facility.
Expedite spare parts for down equipment
Work with maintenance personnel and suppliers to find an acceptable alternate product when the direct replacement is not available
Track all orders to confirm a prompt/timely delivery
Recommend critical spare part additions to MRO supervisor
Update work order status and comments in MP2 database
Enter inventory additions and changes to stock items in SIM and MP2 databases
Coordinate entire OSP process.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in a related field or eight (8) years experience in manufacturing environment and production operations.
Minimum of three (3) years experience in computerized purchasing, accounting and inventory control practices and procedures.
Strong negotiating skills.
Good interactive people skills with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, management and/or individuals.
Team player who supports both management and team members.
Ability to apprise a situation and counsel team members accordingly.
Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles
Work safely as a condition of hire and employment
Must be well versed on the operation of maintenance cribs, cost saving and supply chain management
Understands material management strategies to determine stocking vs. non-stocking practices and/or critical parts vs. non critical parts
Strong MS Office skills.
