Summary of Responsibility:

As a Project Manager at SMT, you will have overall responsibility for organizing, managing, and coordinating tasks and resources for assigned project orders of CNC machinery starting at time of order to completion of installation. The project manager will balance multiple projects simultaneously, which will differ in size and scope. Adaptability and prioritization skills are essential for adjusting processes to meet project requirements. Good communication and relationship building skills across different levels inside and outside the organization are crucial. This is an in-person position, the Project Manager is expected to report to the office.


What You Will Contribute:


  • Work with Product Development Managers to define the complete project order scope with Key Milestones and deliverables defined as well as clearly identifying ownership of associated items outlined per contract or order agreements.

  • Develop the master project plan using MS Project with detailed WBS and key milestones outlined and tracked to completion. Track the results to ensure on-time completion.
  • Communicate regularly with all project collaborators to keep them informed of the progress. Identify any associated risks or delays and find ways to address and bring them up in a timely manner.
  • Organize and lead virtual project meetings with appropriate collaborators per project requirements to Initiate, Update and manage project tasks to closure.
  • Obtain, organize, and file all critical machine and project documentation following the standard filing location and structure for each project.
  • Lead the importation of the capital machine from EXW timing to delivery at End-user / Final installation location. This includes any site visits and completion of installation readiness check sheets to ensure the customer is able to receive the delivery.
  • Closely supervise the progress of all installations and update the project plan to track plan versus actual results for critical metric reporting.
  • Support installation team with any resources, equipment, parts, etc. needed to minimize impact to schedule. Identify any areas for improvements on future installations and feedback accordingly or implement internally.
  • Close the project in the system by validating with the customer that the requirements of the order have been met. Continue to follow and handle any open points that are conditional upon acceptance.

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • 2-5 Years Capital Machine Tool experience and / or Capital Equipment Installation Project management experience. PMP certification is a plus.

  • Intermediate knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office Suite specifically with Excel and Project.

  • 2-4 year College or Technical school degree.

  • Understanding of Incoterms and experience with logistics. Experience with large equipment importation is a plus.

  • Technical background and knowledge of electrical and mechanical components. Ability to read and process information in drawings, manuals and other machine related documents.

  • Understanding CNC machinery terminology and components is a plus.

  • Strong organizational and good documentation skills

  • Possess strong communication, collaboration and presentation skills.

  • Able to travel up to 10-50% of the time (based on project need).

  • Possess or ability to acquire a US Passport

  • Possess a valid US driving license and will be subject to submission for a Motor Vehicle Record report.
