Job Description Summary: Handle materials, clean construction area, prep and use of basic hand tools, remain attentive to achieve trade knowledge and skill. Support activities at all Swinerton job-sites as directed.
Job Description:
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITES AND DUTIES:
Clean work areas, machines, or equipment, to maintain a clean and safe job site
Retrieve tools for other carpenters
Understand and use of basic hand and power tools
Maintain a clean construction area
Select tools, equipment, or materials from storage and transport items to work site
Material handling for carpenters
Construct and/or build small carpentry projects at the discretion of the responsible journeyman carpenter(s)
Learn to read blueprints, architectural drawings and construction layouts
Perform tie spacing layout and measure, mark, drill or cut
Fasten timbers or lumber with glue, screws, pegs, or nails and install hardware
Drill holes in timbers or lumber
Cut lumber, plywood or forms with skill-saw
Position and hold timbers, lumber, or paneling in place for fastening or cutting
Align, straighten, plumb, or square forms for installation
Hold plumb bobs, sighting rods, or other equipment to aid in establishing reference points and lines
Erect scaffolding, shoring, or braces
Assist carpenters with layout
Complete other responsibilities as assigned
SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to learn new skills with attention to detail
Lift and/or pull 50lbs.,
Climb ladders, work off ladders, man lifts or other equipment
Ability to maintain a standing position for extended periods of time, fully squat, bend or kneel while wearing a tool belt
Capable of working in a variety of weather conditions
