The BHS Maintenance Lead Technician is primarily responsible for directing and managing any operational tasks and daily shift activities required by location. This position is responsible for repairs and maintains machinery, mechanical equipment, and electro-mechanical/laser recognition systems used in baggage conveyor systems and other day to day activities with minimum down time. Previous BHS Maintenance experience is preferred.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Direct and manage daily shift activities of all employees.
Address customer daily operational needs and concerns.
Report any equipment problems to Airport Maintenance.
Suggest and communicate operational improvements to customers as needed on a daily basis.
Baggage handling from check-in to TSA screening hand-off may also include front-of-ticket-counter and post-screening assistance as needed.
Troubleshoot, repairs and maintain machinery & mechanical equipment such as motors, pneumatic devices, electro-mechanical / laser recognition systems, baggage handling equipment and conveyor systems in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operational manuals and manufacturer's specifications using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments.
Observe devices in operation and listen to their sounds to locate and diagnose causes of trouble -Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts using hoists or other lifting devices, hand tools and power tools.
Examines form and tester of parts to detect imperfections. Inspects used parts to determine chances in dimensional requirements using rules, calipers, micrometers and other measuring instruments.
Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools, level, plumb bobs and straightedges -Repair or replace defective parts using hand tools and power tools. • Installs special functional and structural parts in devices using hand tools -Lubricate and clean parts as well as provides manufacturer recommended maintenance to keep equipment running smoothly.
Repairs electrical systems, including control systems.
Performs preventive, corrective, predictive and emergency maintenance, may require 24-hour availability for emergency response / support -May use cutting, brazing or welding equipment to repair sheet metal facings on conveyor systems or other such metal work.
First responder to various system alarms including Bag Jams, motor overloads, bag tracking faults, etc.
Cleaning of shop, control room and BHS assets.
Realignment of baggage on the BHS.
Monitor and use system overview screen (HMI) to detect problems
Assist in repairs of BHS and its components as directed team Leader or BHS Manager to develop mechanical / electrical skills which will provide opportunity for a quality BHS performance and personal advancement.
Other responsibilities as assigned by Management.
Qualifications:
Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Must possess a Government ID and social security card.
Must have or be able to attain reliable transportation.
Able to work in extreme conditions, such as hot and cold weather, as well as small spaces
Able to receive appropriate security clearances after satisfactory completion of a criminal background check.
Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must be able to work extended hours depending on operational needs.
