Job Description

The Director of the IT Program Management Office (PMO) is responsible for establishing, leading, and managing the strategic execution of IT programs and projects across the organization. This role will ensure that all IT initiatives are aligned with business goals, delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, while adhering to best practices and delivering value to stakeholders. The Director will lead a team of project managers and collaborate closely with business and IT leadership to prioritize and manage the IT project portfolio.

Responsibilities:

Strategy

- Develop and lead the IT PMO strategy, ensuring alignment with the organization's overall business strategy and objectives.

- Establish and maintain project management standards, methodologies, tools, and processes across IT projects.

- Provide guidance and leadership to the PMO team, promoting best practices in program and project management.

Portfolio and Program Management

- Oversee the management of a portfolio of IT projects, ensuring resources are optimally allocated and projects are aligned with business priorities.

- Ensure timely delivery of all IT projects within scope, schedule, and budget.

- Establish project governance, including risk management, issue resolution, and change management processes.

- Track and report on project performance, providing regular updates to senior leadership.

Resource Management

- Lead the resource planning process for IT projects, ensuring that the right skillsets are available and efficiently utilized.

- Manage relationships with internal and external resources, including third-party vendors and consultants.

Stakeholder Collaboration

- Serve as a key liaison between IT and business leaders to understand project needs, manage expectations, and resolve any challenges that may arise.

- Facilitate communication between business stakeholders, project teams, and IT leadership to ensure project goals are met.

Risk & Quality Management

- Identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks associated with IT programs and projects.

- Establish quality assurance processes to ensure that deliverables meet the organization's standards and stakeholder expectations.

- Drive continuous improvement in PMO processes, tools, and outcomes.

Budget

- Develop and manage the PMO budget, ensuring the financial health of the IT project portfolio.

- Track project expenses and ensure that IT projects are delivered within financial constraints.

- Provide cost-benefit analyses and financial reports to stakeholders as necessary.

Team Development

- Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of project managers and support staff.

- Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture with a focus on continuous learning and development.

- Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and support career development for team members.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.

- 5+ years of experience in IT project/program management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role overseeing a PMO or large-scale IT programs.

- Proven track record of successfully managing complex IT projects, delivering on time and within budget.

- Experience with project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) and tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA, etc.).

- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification required.

- ITIL, Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), or Lean Six Sigma certifications are a plus.

Skills:

- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.

- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

- Strategic thinking and decision-making abilities.

- Strong financial management and budget tracking experience.

- Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.

- Proven ability to manage vendor relationships and contracts.
