The CWI candidate will report to the Quality Manager or Supervisor while working with the quality team, the welding inspector will be responsible for implementing and maintaining quality programs and welding inspection. They will perform technical inspection duties along with adhering to standard quality operational policies, procedures, and standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure that the welding procedure specifications are available and deployed in production during all fabrication
Assist engineering on weld symbols and drawings
Create and implement welding procedures (WPS, PQR, WPQR)
Review that the welding procedure specification cover process and material required by drawing
Review inspection requirements prior to welding, insuring that they can be met
Prior to and during welding, verify that the specified base metal(s) and welding filler metal(s) are used.
Ensuring that adequate and valid welder approvals are available, and that only approved welders are used in production.
Verification of welding consumables being used (electrodes, filler wires, consumable inserts, gases, fluxes etc.)
Verification that dimensions, fit-up and weld preparations are in accordance with specifications.
Monitoring and inspect all work performed by tack welders and welders and/or welding operators.
Inspect and evaluate welds according to specified inspection procedures, standards, codes, and drawings.
Record welding inspection results that were witnessed and prepare associated report
Assists the Quality Manager/Team with the implementation, interpretation, and
maintaining company quality assurance standards.
Maintains oversight of NDT testing inspectors to ensure conformity to company and customer weld inspection programs and regulations.
Provides Quality Manager with status reports for internal control on quality issues concerning fabrication processes and procedures.
Assist company personnel in the determination of root cause for quality issues related to the welding process.
