GENERAL SUMMARY: The Assistant Dean of the School of Transportation & Heavy Equipment reports to the Dean and provides operationalleadership and support for the School and its personnel, students, programs andservices.
PRINCIPALDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with the recruitment, onboarding,evaluation and development of faculty and academic staff vis-à-vis School and institutional policies, practices and strategicpriorities.
Fosterscollegiality and positive morale.
Assistswith the collaborative development and fulfillment of tort- and long-termstrategic priorities for the School, as well as the policies, procedures andinitiatives appropriate for achieving them.
Supportthe ongoing analysis of current and emerging educational and workforce trendsand the alignment of the School's offerings and services to them.
Provideongoing operational support to the School's programs, services, students,faculty, staff and other stakeholders, and address emergent issues inaccordance with School, University and other pertinent policies, procedures andpractices in a timely manner.
Supportspecialized and institutional accreditation initiatives.
Promoteand support academic innovation and excellence.
Supportthe preparation and updating of School and University promotional materials andwebsite.
Assistwith the day-to-day monitoring and management of School budgets, facilities andother resources to ensure appropriate and optimum utilization.
Assistwith the pursuit and acquisition of extramural resources.
Provideoperational support to the School's student recruitment and retention efforts.
Assistwith the development and maintenance of robust relationships with alumni, aswell as industry and community representatives.
Maintainaccurate records relative to all School interests.
Ensuresafe work and learning environments.
Representthe School and University in appropriate professional and communityorganizations and related activities.
Supportthe exploration of and engagement in collaborations with internal and externalentities to advance the School, OSUIT and their stakeholders.
Serveas an active, contributing member of the University's Academic Council andother committees as assigned.
Coordinateand communicate School activities with Academic Affairs, Fiscal Services,Student Services, the President's Office, Marketing & Communications, theOSU Foundation, and other units as appropriate.
Fulfillother responsibilities to meet the needs of the School and/or OSUIT.

Minimum Qualifications:
Should possess thecredentials necessary to qualify as a faculty member for one of the School'sprograms; graduate degree(s) highly preferred. Individuals with alternatecombinations of credentials and/or experience may be considered.
Evidences a historyof demonstrating ethical and professional behavior.
Three or more yearsof progressive experience in collaborative management and leadership;experience in higher education administration preferred.
Postsecondaryteaching experience preferred.
Demonstrated successin collaborating with various constituencies.
Ability to plan,organize and fulfill complex initiatives.
Knowledge of andexperience in working with technology.
Ability to researchand interpret federal, state, and institutional policies.
Understanding of theopportunities and challenges facing higher education; comprehension of land-grantcolleges and universities preferred.
Ability toeffectively engage community and industry leaders and alumni.
Ability to maintain highstandards of work, initiative, commitment, ethics, professional responsibilityand judgment.
Understanding ofqualitative and quantitative data analysis, budgeting and reporting.
Superiorinterpersonal skills - including the ability to effectively recognize andresolve complex problems in a constructive manner.
Mustdemonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
Mustpossess excellent interpersonal skills, exercise decorum in all interactionswith stakeholders, and be able to effectively recognize and mitigate conflict.
ValidOklahoma driver's license.
Ability to work someevenings and weekends, as needed.
Travel required.
Normal office andclassroom work environments; ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
