Job Description
Physician specializing in pulmonary, allergy, critical care, or sleep medicine to serve as a member of the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, within the Department of Internal Medicine; directs and provides direct and indirect patient care services in both inpatient and outpatient settings; conducts ambulatory clinics; interviews, obtains and reviews medical history of patients; performs physical examinations to assess medical or surgical needs; performs relevant specialty procedures; orders special procedures, diagnostic testing, and other ancillary services; responds to consultation requests; determines, prescribes and implements treatment plans and/or medications required; documents all services and instructions provided in medical record; educates patients and promotes wellness, prevention and early detection by providing materials, resources and services to patient and their families; directs and participates in quality assessment and improvement activities; serves as preceptor and provides bedside training of residents, fellows, medical students, undergraduate and graduate students, nursing staff, and other allied medical professionals in specialty area; ensures continuing medical education requirements are met; participates in department, college, medical center and university committees and other service activities.
Required Qualifications
Completion of an accredited residency and fellowship training program in pulmonary, allergy, critical care or sleep medicine required; current or interim permit to practice medicine from the State of Ohio Medical Board required; board certification or eligibility from the American Board of Internal Medicine required; active certification from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) required. Requires successful completion of a background check.
The Physician provides licensed medical care including diagnosis, treatment (inclusive of surgery or pre/post-surgical care where appropriate), case management and clinical research. The Physician manages complex and sometimes unpredictable situations. The Physician must be competent in technical, clinical and surgical skills (where appropriate), cognitive and interpersonal skills required to serve those patients receiving the above mentioned services. The Physician is expected to practice within the established Medical Center and physician's standards of practice (policies, procedures, protocols), and adhere to key results areas of the Medical Center. Required Qualifications Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), board certified or board eligible in specialization required. State of Ohio and DEA licensure required.
