Location: Nashville, Tennessee
The Staff Therapist will be responsible for providing solution-focused and/or short-term individual, couple, group psychotherapy for students, supportive counseling, assessments and crisis intervention; testing/evaluation; case management; home visit; also provides consultation to students, faculty, staff and parents; designs and facilitates outreach educational activities. Position requires capacity for providing (1) treatment services after regular business hours, including weekends, nights, and holidays as necessitated by emergencies and student schedules, (2) treatment related emergency transportation services for student is mandatory.
CLINICAL SERVICES
• Conducts initial assessments, daytime walk-in crisis services, and assumes on-call responsibilities for after-hours emergency services. On rare occasion, crisis interventions services may be required on the campus.
• Provides brief individual, couple and group psychotherapy for students.
• Provides clinical consultation to Student Affairs and other departments/programs.
• Maintains clinical records and necessary data of psychotherapeutic and other client contacts, in compliance with ethics, law, and best practices.
• Consults with psychiatrists in coordinating for the appropriate care regarding prescribing and monitoring psychotropic medication for counseling clients.
• Consults with parents, physicians, faculty, academic deans, other campus offices and students, when appropriate, and with appropriate authorization in order to provide quality care to students.
• Provides referrals to off-campus therapists, clinics, or hospitals, when appropriate.
• Supervises and participates in training experiences for graduate psychology trainees as applicable.
• Provides case management consultation to trainee(s), as needed.
• Provides crisis management supervision to trainee(s), as needed.
OUTREACH AND EDUCATION PROGRAMMING
Serve as liaison to Student Affairs, and other departments providing psychoeducation outreach programming for MMC students.
Conducts outreach and educational programming, as requested, including QPR trainings, stress '.
& anxiety management, orientation sessions for new students and other relevant topics
Conducts training programs for staff and faculty, in order to educate the campus on
mental health and developmental issues
Assesses and summarizes ongoing MMC students' needs.
Liaison with MMC student groups/leaders, attending periodic meetings of the various organizations.
Holds weekly Let's Talk Office hours in Student Affairs to provide informal consultation for students and helps to remove barriers to access behavioral/mental health services.
OTHER DUTIES
• Participates in Student Affairs and other University committees as assigned by the Director.
• Attends and participates in regular CS staff meetings, case conferences, and in-service/professional development training
• Performs other duties as assigned.
