  • Establishes starting formulas for Compounding production.
  • Verify Maguire feed systems, formulation, and single pigments are setup correctly by Lead Operator.
  • Adjust color and Maguire feed systems if color does not startup within tolerances to Master standard.


  • Run Pilot Extrusion line. Spins and verifies color at Start Ups, during color adjusting, post blending of finished product, and any Nylon concentrates purchased from outside Vendors.
  • Weigh up concentrate to spin and verify against Standard.
  • Verify color in Color software. Adjust color and Maguire feed if needed and retest.
  • Maintains all material levels. Lab Pigment retains, Lab supplies, and Waste removal.
  • Maintain specifications on Pilot line and all lab equipment.
  • Process change Pilot line specs average 5 times day due to multi polymer changes.
  • Change packs on Pilot line. Average 3 pack changes within 24-hour period.
  • Average 24 color changes or adjustments per 8 hours.
  • Completes Pilot line specifications and trouble shoots if Pilot Extrusion line is not running well.
  • Operation of the feed systems, extrusion, compounding line, and blenders.
  • Assist in trouble shooting color/processing issues from Extrusion by spinning and completing physical property testing.


  • Completes all testing of physical properties and record. SU, QC, and R&D for outside department tests performed:
  • Test all Start-up, QC, Color Matches, and qualify all incoming concentrates from outside vendors.
  • Pellet count, Density, Melt flow index, Moisture testing, Pressure Rise, Film press, Pucks, Plaques, Ash, and Clump
  • Plaque incoming Single pigment dispersions
  • Adjust colors to match Master standards and retest.
  • Fills out COA's and entering into database on computer
  • Document and file all concentrate formulas.


  • Lift truck certified. Stock items for Pilot line and Lab: Spin finish, cones, collect incoming samples from supply room, remove cone and bale waste


  • 5 day / 8 hour or 24 / 7 rotating shifts with possibility of overtime.


  • Physical requirements: Examples listed, but not limit to.
  • Run Extrusion pilot line:

  • i. Climb steps (~25 steps): 30x shift
  • Aspirator and aspirator hose:
  • Swinging motion ~15 pounds, throughout shift.
  • Change Packs:
  • Reach overhead supporting ~25 pounds applying ~50 pounds of torque
  • Carry weights:
  • Lab pellets: Carry buckets of resin (~25 pounds). Pour mix pellets into waste box.
  • Mount/Dismount Powered industrial lift truck.
  • Bending, stretching, extend reach:
  • Into waste bins, pellet box, doffing cones, bale waste, etc.


  • Mathematical skills. (Must pass basic math test)


  • Identify color shades. (Must pass color blindness test.)


  • Has knowledge of all testing instruments, and all related testing and job function procedures. Knowledge of materials science.


  • Knowledge of color science/ basic math functions; use of computer excel spreadsheets, database, AS400, lotus notes.


  • Shipping
  • Ship approved lots in a timely manner.


  • Housekeeping
  • Keep the lab area clean and equipment functional.
  • Empty the trash, purge drum, mixed pigment drum.
  • Contain waste for reuse.


  • Safety
  • First aid responder and CPR/AED certified.
  • Re-enforce safety policy through group and one-on-one discussions.
  • Report and ensure equipment is in safe condition.
  • Awareness of operators working for code red and code blue accountability.
  • Conduct safety meetings.




  • High School diploma. Critical thinking and applications of processes required.



    Operations and leadership experience in continuous processes manufacturing. Communication skills to insure organization alignment and execution in 24/7 rotating shift environment or 5 day (8 hour shift) with the possibility of overtime. Competent Excel, Word, Company email.
