Description Overview Granulation Technicians are at the forefront of Perrigo’s mission “To make lives better by bringing Quality Affordable Self-Care products that consumers trust everywhere they are sold.” They operate various pieces of granulation equipment used to convert raw materials into intermediate materials for further processing. Granulation Technicians check-in raw materials to verify the correct weight and identity prior to charging. They are also responsible for moving materials between manufacturing stages, continuously monitoring process variables during the granulation process, executing in-process tests and evaluating test results against the prescribed specification. Organization and attention to detail are critical in this role! Granulation Technicians must have the capability to manage the production status and paperwork of up to three in-process batches simultaneously while accurately recording data on CGMP documents. A strong mechanical aptitude is required, as Granulation Technicians disassemble, clean, sanitize, and reassemble their own equipment. Perrigo has high standards for providing a safe workplace and the willingness to work safely is essential. Granulation Technicians may be required to wear various types of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to include eye protection, hearing protection, coveralls, gloves, respirators and fall restraints. Scope of the Role Following written instructions contained in Standard Operating Procedures, manufacturing orders, cleaning checklists and other controlled documents in accordance with cGMP regulations. Physical movement of bulk materials utilizing various forms of Power Industrial Equipment including drum dumpers, straddle stackers, pallet jacks and forklifts. Basic material handling and departmental utility tasks may also be assigned. Handling of in-process raw and intermediate materials, to include charge-in of ingredients, mixing and transfer of in-process batches or components. Operation of computer-controlled equipment utilizing a screen-based Operator Interface Terminal (OIT). Monitoring of process variables, OIT screens and other indicators to confirm equipment is operating within validated process parameters. Operation of various instruments including moisture analyzers and sieve shakers. Performance of various in-process sampling methods including moisture content and particle size distribution. Evaluating actual test results against prescribed parameters to determine if material meets specifications. Accurately, repeatedly and contemporaneously documenting GMP data on equipment logs, batch records and cleaning checklists. Making minor adjustments to process parameters within recipe limits. Execution of equipment and manufacturing suite cleaning tasks utilizing manual and automated processes and prescribed cleaning checklists, to include confined space entry. Performance of minor equipment servicing activities including disassembly, reassembly and set-up. Performance of troubleshooting activities to address equipment faults and other anomalies. Execution of general housekeeping duties per the applicable cleaning checklists. Wear of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to include eye protection, hearing protection, half-face and/or Powered Air Purifying Respirators, protective clothing and fall restraint harnesses. Experience Required High school diploma or GED. Basic math, English communication skills, legible penmanship, and reading comprehension. Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions. Basic use of Microsoft applications and general computer skills. Effective interpersonal communication and a positive outlook. Demonstrated mechanical reasoning and troubleshooting skills. Strong mechanical skills along with experience in the use of various hand tools. Demonstrated ability to work in a faced-paced environment while monitoring multiple information sources.
