Overview
Professional Perfusion practice, responsibilities and performing cardiopulmonary bypass

Demonstrate performance consistent with Departmental and Organizational expectations
Demonstrate proficiency in clinical skills/knowledge specific to the surgical specialties
Demonstrate working knowledge of cardiopulmonary bypass
Proficient in all perfusion-specific job duties
Provide fundamental components of patient comfort and safety within the perioperative setting
Identify and develop areas of expertise within the surgical specialties
Maintain knowledge essential to the role of the professional operating room perfusionist
Coordinate patient care / services with other team members
Prioritize patient care responsibilities and seek consultation when indicated
Performs effectively in emergent situations
Recognize and effectively manage emergent situations
CPR certified
Respond appropriately to codes in the surgery department
Preserve patient rights
Demonstrate patient advocacy skills
Protect patient privacy throughout patient’s perioperative stay
Document care according to unit specific standards
Demonstrate comprehensive documentation of perfusion process in the perioperative setting
Perform and document checklist verification prior to surgery
Coordinate Activities
Time management
Accomplish case load assignments in a timely manner
Completes turnover of operating room(s) between cases before or within the established timelines

Responsibilities
Eligible for Certification by ABCP as a Clinical Perfusionist.
New Graduate 5 years previous adult perfusion experience preferred.
Cardiopulmonary Bypass, Point of Care, Sterile Technique, Data management, VADs, IABP, Autotransfusion, Quality Management, Effective Communication
CP, Eligible for Certification
Compliance with Code of Conduct, Respect in the workplace and Applicable policies, procedures and agreements related to position, department or OHSU as a whole
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
Qualifications
Master’s Degree
5 years previous adult perfusion experience preferred.
