Utilizes imaging equipment (X-Ray, MRI) to conduct radiological diagnostic procedures as needed for evaluating patient conditions. Creates and maintains records and files as directed.
Duties and Responsibilities
Operates computer and radiographic equipment to make radiographs of designated portions of the body, under the supervision of a Radiologist. Performs quality control measures for the purpose of ensuing optimal quality images.
Prepares patient for radiographic procedures by accurately assessing patients needs and providing patient education.
Records appropriate chart notations in Patient Information System and/or Patient files. Prepares and maintains records and files as directed. Stores and maintains films according to department policy and procedures.
Prepares patient films for interpretation by radiologist.
Practices safety measures in radiography and Environment of Care. Maintains and tests equipment to ensure proper functionality.
Assist Physicians with Orthopedic casting procedures to include the application and removal of a variety of casts and splints. Prepare and position patient for casting procedures. Instruct patients in cast ware, wound care, swelling, and how to remove and apply splints.
Perform routine examinations and treatment procedures to include removing casts, cleaning wounds and applying medications and dressings.
Cross train in clinical areas to support patients and providers. Room patients, update patient charts, take vitals and patient history.
Maintains patient confidentiality.
Handles other duties as required.
Requirements and Qualifications
AAS Radiologic Technology.
Current ARRT Certification and NYS License.
Minimum of two years of Radiologic Technologist experience.
Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills while performing any and all tasks associated with the position.
Physical Demands
Frequent sitting, standing, walking, grasping, carrying, and speaking.
Occasional reaching, bending, and stooping.
Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds--with assistance if needed.
May need to lift or turn patients who are disabled--with assistance if needed.
Frequent use of computer, keyboard, copy and fax machine, and phone.
