The Role
As a Senior Field Engineer at Lithko Contracting, you will play a key role in guiding and supporting layout teams, ensuring quality and accuracy throughout the project lifecycle. Your expertise will be essential in assisting less experienced team members, checking project controls, and ensuring that construction layouts are implemented correctly. You'll also provide mentorship and leadership in critical areas such as drawing organization, instrument maintenance, and project planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist less experienced layout teams in establishing control points and benchmarks for their projects.
Double-check control information provided by third parties, and communicate any discrepancies back to the general contractor.
Teach layout teams how to analyze drawings to find solutions and organize RFIs for field drawings.
Provide training on proper layout techniques, checking instruments, and reviewing larger project drawings.
Guide layout teams in double-checking OT's models, including the use of CAD when applicable.
Assist the OT team with points and address the specific needs of each layout team.
Assess field engineers' capabilities, offering guidance and support to help them succeed.
Oversee instrument maintenance and inventory.
Assist in startup plans for pour sequences and breaks, ensuring smooth execution.
Review formwork for dimensional accuracy and constructability.
Participate in interviewing new layout personnel.
Learn and implement Tekla in project workflows.
Teach layout teams how to maintain field drawings for accurate records (e.g., Embed Shops).
Guide teams on using TOPO for as-builts on slab elevations using tools like PlanGrid.
Requirements and Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in layout work on high-rise buildings or as a Field Engineer.
CAD experience is a plus.
Ability to travel 25% to Jacksonville, with Orlando as the base location.
