100% FTE; core hours between 7:00 am - 5:00 pm (four ten-hour shifts) with rotating weekends. This position is eligible for a $10,000 sign-on bonus and relocation assistance. You will work at nationally known American Family Children's Hospital in Madison, WI.

We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) - Pediatric ICU and Cardiac ICU (PICU and CICU):


  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team to provide comprehensive care to both critically ill and ill pediatric patients in an inpatient intensive care setting.
  • For more than 55 years the UW Health Transplant Center has led the nation in serving adult and pediatric transplant patients and living and deceased organ donors who provide the gift of life. Last year, we conducted our first pediatric heart transplant. The pediatric heart transplant program has completed six transplants in their first year.
  • You will manage children with complex congenital heart surgeries and those on ventricular assist devices while they wait for their heart transplant.
  • Participate in daily rounding and collaborate with attendings and consulting team to adjust plans of care.
  • Take an active role in collaborating with other departments, including CV surgery and pediatric cardiology.
  • Perform routine clinical procedures independently as outlined in practice agreements/scope of practice including, but not limited to, the following: sedations per protocol, line placement for venous or arterial access, airway management.

Education :
If Nurse Practitioner: Master's or Doctorate's degree from accredited Nursing Program.
If Physician Assistant: Bachelor's or Master's degree from accredited PA Program.

Licenses and Certifications :
Minimum - State of Wisconsin NP or PA licensure
If Nurse Practitioner*:


  • Active RN and APRN certifications and licenses, including prescriptive authority, in state(s) of practice AND
  • Active board certification as a NP in area of clinical practice. These may include the following: Pediatric Acute Care

If Physician Assistant*:

  • Active PA license, including prescriptive authority, in state(s) of practice AND
  • Active PA board certification

All Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant applicants must have*: Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire
