The Quality Inspector maintains the flow of quality product by performing product acceptance for incoming, in-process, and completed components/assemblies. The optimal Quality Inspector candidate applies knowledge and expertise and incorporates guidance from internal/external customers to utilize efficient/effective inspection methodologies. A Quality Inspector documents all inspection activities as necessary to support the acceptance, rejection, and evaluation of product. Chosen candidate is pro-active in improving product/process design by providing feedback to necessary support functions.
How You Will Do It
Conducts tests, inspections, audits, and validations to accept incoming material /in-process inspection / completed assemblies by confirming adherence to specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials and providing feedback to suppliers/production staff as required.
Initiates and/or completes necessary quality records, reports, logs, test data, and other associated paperwork required to accomplish acceptance, rejection, and movement of material.
Is responsible for the completeness and accuracy of rejection reports, quality records, and inspection data.
Works from prints, drawings, sketches, specifications, packing sheets and other written or verbal instructions.
Takes direction from MRB team in the course of inspection, audits, and validations
Provides feedback to Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Procurement with regard to product and process design impact on producibility and inspectability.
Continuously improves the inspection function to ensure efficient support of quantity of work, and improvement in quality of work.
Collects and uses statistical data for the monitoring and evaluation of trends.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
Provides training and tutoring to other inspection personnel.
Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions; calling for repairs when needed.
Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
Provides activity and status reports to management.
What We Look For
High School Diploma (required);
3+ years related experience to include experience using sophisticated dimensional measurement instruments such as micrometers, calipers, plug thread, optical comparator, borescope, and other gauges.
Experience preparing, executing, and reviewing First Article Reports in accordance with AS9102.
Analyzing Information, Reporting Research Results, Documentation Skills, Promoting Process Improvement, Safety Management, Managing Processes, Manufacturing and Inspection Methods and Procedures, Supports Innovation.
Full understanding of AS9100 aerospace quality system; understanding of quality processes.
Ability to read, understand and interpret prints/drawings and other technical documents that describe the system and processes.
Ability to use most inspection tools, measuring and test equipment.
Ability to read and understand policies, procedures and processes.
Ability to partner with colleagues for mutual benefit of the company.
Ability to positively influence others and create a passion for excellence.
Ability to work in a team environment as well as individually
Willingness and ability to work rotating shifts including weekend support as needed.
