As a Production Paint Prep Associate, you will play a crucial role in preparing surfaces and materials for the painting process. Your attention to detail and proficiency in paint preparation techniques will contribute to the overall quality of finished products. Starting at $17 per hour.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Clean, sand, and prepare surfaces for painting according to established standards. Remove old paint, rust, or contaminants from surfaces using appropriate tools and methods.
  • Apply masking tape and protective materials to cover surfaces not intended for painting. Ensure accurate and precise masking to achieve clean paint lines.
  • Apply primers to surfaces to promote adhesion and enhance the durability of the paint. Select and use the appropriate primer based on the material being painted.
  • Inspect surfaces for imperfections, ensuring they meet quality standards before the painting process. Identify and address any issues with surface preparation that may affect the paint application.
  • Maintain and clean painting equipment, including spray guns and brushes. Report any equipment malfunctions or the need for repairs to the appropriate personnel.
  • Mix and prepare paint materials, ensuring accurate proportions and consistency. Follow safety protocols for handling and disposing of paint and related materials.
  • Coordinate with other departments, such as production and quality control, to ensure timely and efficient painting processes. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to address any challenges or requirements.

Required Qualifications, Skills/Competencies

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a paint prep technician or a similar role and knowledge of paint and techniques preferred but not required
  • Training available
  • ability to work with hand tools, lift 50 pounds
  • Attendance, work performance and ability to meet productivity targets are important
