Job Title:Continuing Education Specialist 2, Pesticide Safety Education ProgramDepartment:FAES | Agriculture and Natural Resources

The Continuing Education Specialist will support educational programming, program communications and event coordination for the Pesticide Safety Education Program. The specialist also will coordinate the work of 2-3 student assistants.


Educational program support will include developing content for our website and social media, working with content experts to construct and manage several online courses, and administering program evaluations. Communications will include making arrangements with faculty and program speakers, responding to customer inquiries by phone and email, and developing marketing materials to publicize our programs. Event coordination will include budgeting, purchasing, reconciling accounts, arranging travel, managing vendor contracts, coordinating with the registration services provider and coordinating set up/tear down for events.. Event coordination for online programs will include planning webinars and managing the online participant database.



The successful candidate will work on projects of moderate scope and complexity and perform varied tasks under general guidance of the program director. Infrequent overnight travel is required to assist with our regional conference programs (4-6 nights per year). The specialist will exhibit professionalism in appearance and in personal interactions with Pesticide Safety Education Program clientele.



This job is on the OSU Columbus Campus. There is opportunity to work remotely for 1-2 days per week.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience required.



Desired: 2-4 year's experience with any of these: event planning, customer service, website maintenance, educational media development. Knowledge of extension programs, agriculture or related fields.

The pay range for this job profile is $21.11 - $27.77. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, the candidate's qualifications.

The Pesticide Safety Education Program (PSEP) is part of Ohio State University Extension and provides continuing education programs, print and web-based information for the 28,000 licensed applicators in the State of Ohio. The program helps applicators make informed decisions about pesticides and apply them safely and effectively. PSEP is a small team that works closely together.
