Job Summary:

Provides leadership and direction for College of Engineering events, community outreach and alumni engagement. Ensures events are conducted with the highest level of professional standards and maximizes efficiencies of operations. Manages and leads community engagement efforts for the College of Engineering. Collaborates with the VP of Development division to build relationships with alumni, including but not limited to the development of alumni events and engagement strategy.


Salary is commensurate based on qualifications and relevant experience starting at a minimum of $50,000.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Coordinate, host, and assist with multiple major events annually (i.e., award ceremonies, conferences, banquets, community events etc.).

  • Responsible for securing space and equipment; independently coordinating terms and prices with vendors; managing budgets; directing and coordinating technical and production aspects; and making final decisions regarding event set-up, design, décor and the overall attendee experience.

  • Manage the college's calendar of events.

  • Recommend and implement strategies for alumni engagement and community outreach, with the goal of cultivating existing alumni and community relationships and developing new ones.

  • Develop means by which to engage alumni through the common bonds of the college and university.

  • Work collaboratively with the Development team to assist in the coordination and execution of the College's alumni relations efforts to increase participation and opportunities that cultivate relationships.

  • Promote alumni and community engagement events, campaigns, activities and opportunities through various channels such as social media, email newsletters, print publications, videos, event opportunities etc.

  • Work with the Advancement Services Office to track and measure engagement efforts.

  • Modify strategy and engagement efforts to achieve the goals of the college.

  • Serve on various committees, including as the college representative for UTA Commencement ceremonies.

  • Coordinate the development and engagement of alumni chapters.

  • Other duties as assigned, including supporting other activities in the College of Engineering communications and marketing areas.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • High school diploma with six (6) years of experience in alumni relations, community outreach, marketing, program management, or event planning/promotion experience.

  • Experience in planning, promoting and executing high-profile events and knowledge related to community outreach.

  • Professional experience in management and budgeting.

  • Experience working with vendors to procure quality giveaway items at the best price.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or a related field with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in event planning, alumni relations, community outreach, marketing, program management or a related field.

  • Experience working with to alumni with an emphasis on relationship-building.

  • Experience working with development / fundraising officers.

  • Experience in a university, education or non-profit environment.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel and other common office software.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to prioritize workload for timely completion of important tasks.

  • Ability to maintain confidential information.

  • Ability to thrive in a multicultural, high-tempo environment working on multiple events at a time.

  • Ability to demonstrate effective decision-making and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to develop a positive working relationship with colleagues and external vendors/clients.

  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.

  • Ability to complete all physical tasks as needed.


Other Requirements :



  • Use of a personal vehicle for work-related local travel.


Working Conditions:



  • May work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
